The brief:
Our client was having an extension built on their existing property which would be forming a new master bedroom with en suite. As a busy family of 5, an additional shower and bath in the house were priority, whilst creating a beautiful room with the fittings chosen.
The solution:
The client needed help in what was the best use of space in a blank canvas of bedroom/en suite area. We spent time trying different layouts and discussing the benefits to each option. We also had to consider the positions and sizes of windows in the room to maximise light into the room and maintain symmetry to the walls. We decided that one window would be best to allow a cabinet above the basin and a large showering area.
As the walls formed were breezeblock, we worked with the builder to plan boxed-out areas to allow concealed valves to be installed and created a design feature out of this with an infinity recess with strip lighting in the shower. We matched this strip lighting in a ledge under the bath too.
The client has a love for the colour green but was apprehensive about using too bold of a colour that may be too ‘on trend’, so they were very happy when they saw the green décor tile used on display in our showroom. We paired this with very muted tones in the tiles and vanity unit, and brushed bronze brassware to create an organic and natural feel to the room.
