The brief:
After replacing the other four bathrooms in the house, this was the final room to complete with our client. The room was their very large Master ensuite, which previous to our work was lacking in style to match the rest of their beautiful home that they had renovated since moving in. Retaining original features in the room was important whilst making good use of the ample space.
The solution:
The large windows restricted the potential layouts but provided lots of light and gave the perfect location for the bath. To retain the coving, we built the walls around the shower and basin to mount them to, this meant we could limit the tiling to this boxed area without impeding on the coving. We had a wet room tray custom-made to create a larger than average showering area, and a bespoke shower support in brushed bronze to provide extra support to the substantial glass screen whilst matching the brassware. The vast recess in the showering area provides a practical storage solution and another area for feature lighting.
We were able to specify a 2m wide vanity unit that opened wider due to the curved nature of the side doors, which usually is not a size we get the pleasure of specifying and seeing in situ with the size of bathrooms!
Specification:
- Burbidge Tetbury 2 door/4 drawer vanity unit in Taupe with White worktop and under-mounted washbowls
- Keuco Edition 400 basin mixer and floor-standing bath/shower mixer in brushed bronze
- Keuco Royal Modular 2.0 recessed mirror cabinet
- Villeroy & Boch Theano freestanding bath
- Bespoke wet room tray with linear drain
- Keuco Ixmo shower set in brushed bronze
- Calacatta wall & floor tiles
- V&B Viconnect wall hung frame & glass push plate
- V&B Subway 3.0 WC pan & seat in Stone White
- Zehnder Deline heated towel rail in Light Beige
The outcome:
The ensuite is very much in keeping with the rest of the house now. The space is balanced well with larger items that don’t look imposing and are elegant and tasteful.
There are large amounts of storage and uniformity with consistent use of colour in the brassware and fittings.
