The brief:
The client’s existing room was very closed in with cupboards and stud walls which created a dark environment. The key brief was to open this space up so that it could accommodate a freestanding bath, large open shower, WC and a double-style basin and unit. The client explained that their current shower was not very practical, and water was soaking the surrounding area – it was important that the new design layout eliminated this issue. As the bathroom was a master ensuite, the client requested the basin to accommodate enough space for two users.
The solution:
Immediately we recognised that the existing storage cupboard and shower walls needed to be removed so that the overall area of the room was increased. This then allowed us to redesign the layout of the room so that the bath was the main feature of the room when entering. To further open the space up, the client added three individual velux windows into their roof which not only provided more light but also highlighted the striking features of the freestanding bath beneath it.
Upon visiting the showroom, the client took inspiration from one of our Keuco displays and quickly identified the style of basin and mirror cabinet set-up they would like. Based on these initial decisions, we were able to design the remaining parts of the room around the basin area. The main issue with their previous shower was the impractical design of a small stud partition wall to protect the rest of the room from water splashes and residual water. To make sure this issue was solved, we discussed with the client increasing the size of the glass screen in order to protect the rest of the bathroom – they agreed this was a good solution. Further unique features of this design include an asymmetrical-designed towel warmer which makes removing towels after a shower incredibly easy.

The outcome:
The client was delighted with the finished results of the bathroom. The bathroom met all the client’s needs and all the issues they originally highlighted were solved. The consistency in product style and warm large format tiles created a very tasteful, luxury master ensuite. After completion, the client decided to start the design process on two further bathrooms with H2O.
