The brief:
Previously a bedroom and bathroom, our client wanted to create a larger bathroom for when guests come to stay with them. The main brief was to make the best use of the space available without compromising on the design due to the reduced head height in some areas of the room. The client also expressed that they wanted to tie in the design of the bathroom sanitaryware and tiles to the industrial feel of the steel supports within the room.
The solution:
The client already had a very good idea of the items they wanted to include in their bathroom after visiting the showroom for inspiration. We took these ideas along with the measurements provided from their architect to create a CAD design to help visualise the space. The main issue with the design was to make sure there was enough space to comfortably fit in a large wetroom shower, a freestanding bath, two washbasin areas and a WC without them being restricted by head height or the chimney breast within the room.
Once a layout had been agreed upon with the client we worked with the installer to make sure everything was feasible from a plumbing perspective. The room itself included unique design features such as the exposed wooden beams and industrial-style steel to enhance these features we introduced solid chestnut worktops and large format porcelain tiles that accurately recreates the appearance of metal sheets aged by time for the industrial feel.
Specification:
- Solid Tuscan Chestnut Shelves
- Dune Ceramic Countertop Washbasins
- Axor Citterio E Wall Mounted Basin Taps
- Axor Citterio E Freestanding Tap
- Axor Shower Solutions Powder Rain shower head
- Axor Shower Select Valve
- Villeroy & Boch Venticello WC
- Dune Ceramic tiles
The outcome:
The client was extremely pleased with the finished results of their bathroom renovation, as were their guests. The design turned out exactly how they wanted it to with the room being well-balanced and the fixtures complementing the unique features of the room.
