The brief:
The client wanted to modernise their existing ensuite so it was more in keeping with the style of their other bathrooms we had recently completed. They requested additional storage and larger format tiles. They expressed wanting the bath to be the focal point of the room, and for it to be incorporated into the design so they could take advantage of the countryside views their property offers. An additional request from the client was to open up their existing shower area so it could allow more light into the room.
The solution:
Whilst the main brief for this en suite was to modernise the space, the client also wanted to retain certain features of their Victorian property within the bathroom. For this process, we took advantage of our CAD package to create photorealistic imagery to help the client visualise how this would look. We incorporated larger format tiles for a modern look and a striking copper bath for a traditional feel.
In order to provide the end user with a better showering experience with more light and easier access, we recommended a wetroom shower with a large, fixed piece of glass. We also incorporated an Axor rainfall shower head which featured the manufacturer’s latest technology ‘Powder Rain’.
It was key that the new ensuite provided enough storage space for bathroom toiletries and towels, so the easiest way to integrate this into the design was in the way of vanity units under all three basins and tall units on either side. As an additional touch, we also recommended recessed mirror cabinets above the basins for not only storage but also ambient feature lighting.
Specification:
- Keuco Edition 11 basins, vanity units and tall storage
- Keuco Modular 2.0 recessed mirror cabinets
- Dornbracht brassware (basin taps, shower valve and freestanding bath tap)
- Axor Shower Solutions Powder Rain shower head
- Bisque Chime towel warmers
- Dune Ceramic tiles
The outcome:
The final result of this project was a large open-plan bathroom that met all of the client’s needs and requirements. The combination of tiles, sanitaryware and brassware, made for a modern-style bathroom with plenty of storage, and a spa-like feel.
